How children enter the sponsorship program

We work closely with national child‑care authorities and local community leaders to identify children who require long‑term care and support. Children typically come into our homes through two primary pathways:

Direct surrender by the national child‑care organization. These are children who have been formally placed in our care because they cannot remain in their previous environment for reasons of safety, abandonment, or lack of guardianship.

Families facing extreme poverty. In some cases, children come from homes where parents or guardians are unable to provide basic care, nutrition, or education due to severe financial hardship. When families request help, we work with them and local authorities to ensure the child receives the support they need.

Our commitment to responsible placement

Every child accepted into Victory Children’s Homes is assessed to ensure that sponsorship will meaningfully improve their well‑being, stability, and future opportunities. Our goal is always to serve the most vulnerable children with dignity and compassion.

A sponsor typically supports their child until the age of 18, but sponsorship is always flexible to your needs.

Length of sponsorship

Most children remain in our care until they reach adulthood, and sponsors generally continue their support through these years. However, you may discontinue your sponsorship at any time if your circumstances change. We simply ask that you let our office know so we can ensure the child continues to receive consistent care.

After age 18

When a young person finishes high school, some are eligible to enter our Bursary Program, which helps them pursue post‑secondary education or vocational training. At that point, you may choose to:

Continue sponsoring the same student as they take their next steps, or

Transfer your sponsorship to a younger child who is entering the program and in need of support.

This approach allows sponsors to stay connected in a way that aligns with their capacity and sense of calling.
